How the web can help small, local communities

CREATIVE online business Plus Two Design has, over the last two years, helped promote the Bourne and Holbeach communities by designing and developing two websites for their benefit.

The company, based in Frognall, near Market Deeping, identified that self-promotion was slightly lacking and needed a boost.

The world wide web gives us all an opportunity to reach a bigger audience, a worldwide audience. But it is a vast place; a survey in 2008 found there to be more than 100 million websites currently on the web, 74 per cent of them commercial.

It is proven that the web is a wonderful way to market large businesses that can afford the luxury of pay-per-click marketing and search engine optimisation, but what about small businesses and local communities that also need coverage and promotion?
